This presentation points out the importance of health requirements to have in mind and to promote when the patient has a disease and can be found in a situation of vulnerability. Conditions that should be taken into account in the Intensive Care Units are presented too.

Elements connected to the psycho-evolutive development will be described, such as: stress protection and promotion of capabilities. Research that highlight relations between these elements and the children’s mental health (especially for those children that have been born preterm, regarding to Autism Spectrum Disorders) will be described.

The theoretical conception of the presentation will be outlined from the Hospital Pedagogy’s perspective. It is important to acknowledge one of the main benefits of the implementation of these strategies that is the prevention and promotion of the quality of life in people that have health conditions or that are at risk of being hospitalized.
